Social Media/Technology

Image
Social media and technology play a big role in our everyday lives. Sometimes even more than we think, but some might disagree. This week's discussion is a little different as I have PowerPoint going into depth about the sources of this topic and my thoughts. This is an ongoing debate and doesn’t expect you to agree with my points or beliefs, but to be open to the consequences and troubles that come with social media/technology. However, as educators, we want to encourage technology in classroom lessons, but it’s very much different when used in an abusive matter. I believe using technology in the classroom is different from social media in the classroom or in general. I hope you understand my thoughts and points as well as educate you on social media/ technology and how it affects their mental and emotional health.     References      Klein, A. Drug Education

This helps children understand the health effects and risks of dry abuse. Especially considering that opioids are used as medicine for people who are in serious pain like dental surgery, sports injuries, and cancer, but can be extremely dangerous if misused. There are also different nam...

Social Emotional Learning and Mindfulness

Image
The topic of discussion today is social-emotional effects on young students as well as mindfulness and being cautious of your students and future conversations you might have with other people. Growing up we absorb everything and anything we see around us, and sometimes children go through/experience things that cause them trauma for the rest of their lives. We have to be mindful as educators and adults of these children to help and ensure them a better lifestyle and education. As you can tell our keyword during this discussion is mindfulness, and will be going into depth about it while bringing up creative strategies and approaches for your future colleagues, students, and classroom.     To start, there is a Documentary that I watched titled “Room To Breathe”.     Just the title itself moved me because it says so much about what I was going to watch and how I even felt like I needed room to breathe myself. The film is about Marina ...
